One of the first learning rituals a child will have is looking at the pages of a book as someone tells them a story. Each playshop begins with a story from my original picture books all based on scientific concepts. Big concepts and vocabulary are broken down into small concepts and simple words and repeated throughout the class. For example a class on magnetism involves such vocabulary as force, repel and attract but words such as pull, push and stick are incorporated. Connecting vocabulary, hands-on exploration through story engages a child's logical and conceptual brain with their creative imagination incorporating all the ways children learn.
